A pedagogical footpath where electricity and biodiversity merge
Laid in September 2023 around Lac de la Madone in Mornant, this footpath was developed in collaboration with the intercommunal authority of Pays Mornantais (COPAMO), the Syndicat Mixte d’Hydraulique Agricole du Rhône (SMHAR) and CNR.
This footpath allows walkers to discover a major innovation linked to solar energy: floating solar panels. This solar power plant installed on water produces 100% renewable electricity, while respecting its environment and preserving biodiversity. Fish spawning grounds have been installed under the solar panels, and serve as nurseries for different species of fish. A successful coexistence between renewable energies and biodiversity.
Presentation of the circuit
Stroll the whole length of the path, along which succeed six pedagogical panels explaining varied subjects: the installation of solar panel carpark shades, the preservation of water and its use for agriculture, the use of dry toilets, and the animals present on the site. Aimed at families, these entertaining panels include different games. Both young and old can discover animal species by answering puzzles and playing with revolving cubes, stroll and become new ambassadors of solar energy and biodiversity!
