The Vendean wind turbines of Beaufou
The wind farm of Beaufou is tucked into the green heart of the Vendée, close to La-Roche-sur-Yon. Inaugurated on 15 December 2007, it is composed of six large wind turbines 120.5 metres high, with impressive masts 85 metres high and slender blades 35.5 long. These wind turbines have a total capacity of 12 MW, and generate 21.5 GWh a year, sufficient to supply about 8,400 inhabitants with electricity.

Your safety is our priority
- All visitors must show proof of identity (valid identity card or passport, or French driving licence provided that the photograph resembles the holder).
- Group limited to 30 people with obligatory presence of two accompanying persons (limited to the pedagogic team).
- A list of pupils and accompanying persons must be communicated before the visit; access to the site is forbidden to persons not on the list.
- Any action contrary to or not in compliance with the safety rules during the visit will lead to the immediate halting of the visit and the evacuation of the group outside the CNR site.

Visits are possible every day during open periods as a function of the time slots available.

Please note:
Visits can be suspended without notice for reasons of public order by demand of the authorities. This may also be the case of major maintenance works or due to force majeure. Access to the lock is not authorised for visits in the case of heat waves, rain, storms and violent wind.

From Beaufou, take the D18 direction Saint-Etienne-du-Bois. At the place name L’Auspierre, turn left on the path to the wind farm. Meet in front of the electricity substation.

Practical information
- You must wear trousers and trainers or hiking shoes. If not, you will not be allowed to enter the site.
- Do not use your cell phones, laptop computers, cameras, dictaphones or any electronic devices. They are prohibited during the visit.
