The monumental wind turbines of Sacquenay
Giants of steel and technology, the wind turbines of Sacquenay reach 150 metres into the sky.
In the heart of Côte-d’Or in an agricultural plain, these 9 huge wind turbines, whose masts measure 95 metres, have dominated the landscape since they were commissioned on 7 January 2019. Their blades, with a length of 55 metres, turn to harness wind energy and supply nearly 18,000 inhabitants with electricity. These wind turbines with a total capacity of 18 MW, i.e. 47 GWh/year, are a pillar of energy transition and the region’s energy independence. You can discover them by strolling along a pedagogical path.
Presentation of the pedagogical path
Set off to discover renewable energies, their challenges, biodiversity and the local heritage, by taking the pedagogical path of Sacquenay, inaugurated on 28 April 2023. The result of collaboration between the municipality of Sacquenay and CNR, this path of 5 km is a homage to nature and human ingenuity. Its 5 pedagogical panels invite both children and adults to travel into a world of fauna, flora, the history of the village, farming methods and the operation of the wind farm. The illustrations of 3 panels have been designed with the creativity of the children of the school of Véronnes. It is a place where astonishment and knowledge combine, an educative adventure lasting 1h30 where every step is a discovery.
Detail of the visit:
- Guided visits of 1h30 only by reservation.
